FAQ:
Q: What is the difference between machine tattooing and hand poked tattooing?
A: Since there is no machine, there's no annoying machine sound. It's also slower and a more difficult/precise process. Generally, the tattoos tend to hurt less and heal faster, but there are so many factors that go into those things it is impossible to guarantee that.
While I don't use a machine, I do use professional tattoo ink and needles, so the process is equally safe and sterile. Because the process is slower, it is true I am probably not the right person for your huge back piece (for multiple reasons). I will be upfront about the limitations of the medium/my skill if you ask for something.
Q: Are hand poked tattoos permanent?
A: Yes, they are equally permanent if done correctly, and if you have seen some that aren't, it's probably because they were done by a high schooler with a safety pin or something.
Q: Do you want me to pay you?
A: Whatever you want, I am happy to do a trade or accept your money. It is nice to be paid at least $30 or so to account for supplies. The upper end of reasonable imo is $150/hr.
Q: Will you do custom designs?
A: I like drawing things for people, especially abstract tattoos or things in a minimalist style. What works for me especially is getting a vague request like "a cactus" and providing a few interpretations. A really fun process I have done with a couple of people is that I listen to music they like and draw some doodles based on it for them to pick from. I also have a stencil printer and am happy to tattoo your own art on you.
Q: Are you licensed?
A: What are you, a cop?
